We are Booking Weddings and Festivals for 2023

Hot As A Pepper 2022 Lineup
Hot As A Pepper Party Band with the Habanero Horns

We are starting to book weddings, festivals and corporate events in 2023. We have only just begun, but it would be a great idea for you to get with us ASAP to lock in any show dates you might want in the Greenville, Anderson, Spartanburg (Upstate) or the surrounding area.

Hot As A Pepper Party Band hopes to focus more on events in 2023 than the previous two years due to the unfortunate events that took place! We’re certainly ready to get back on track and provide fun, upbeat and danceable music for YOUR soiree!

We can bring a more casual show, with as few as four members for a more intimate experience, or we can bring the typical 5 piece for a more powerful performance.

When we couple our 5 piece band with the Habanero Horns, that is when things get exciting!

Whether you want a more classic vibe with old school rock, disco, motown, beach and R&B, or want to mix it up with modern top 40 and pop songs, we’ve got what you want!

We will learn your special first dance songs if we have not already played them for other weddings or events. We can custom fit a performance to meld with your theme too!

Our festival events are family friendly, and filled with great variety!

Let’s party like it’s 1999, or 2023 either one!

The InDwellings 70s themed “Back to the Bash” event was exciting!

Hot As A Pepper enjoyed playing for the Upstate organization “InDwellings” last month! Let’s talk about why…

First of all, InDwellings has a goal to provide housing to those with special needs so that they can experience a HOME environment, not just a HOUSE. This is important because as you may be aware, our area has a large number of people who this will impact! These homes which InDwellings hopes to provide will not be some type of institutional dwelling, it will be a home filled with love. With the smell of baking cookies.   Please read more about them on their website to get the latest and to make a contribution.

Back to the bash….  To help achieve their goal, they held an event called “Back to the Bash”, which was a 70s themed gala at the Thornblade Country Club here in Greenville. Hot As A Pepper was booked because we can provide several hours worth of music from just about any style or decade.  For this event, we played a huge selection of music that was mostly from the 70s, peppered with a few from the late 60s and even one or two from the early 80s.   Rock, Beach, Motown, Disco, Country, nothing was safe from us!

The gala coincided with the acquisition of InDwelling’s first house!  It was a real celebration for sure!  But it got exciting….

Delvin Choice who competed on “The Voice” was in the house, and him and our emcee, the multi-talented Michael Codgill joined our band on stage for an impromptu rendition of the James Brown classic, “I Got You (I Feel Good)”.

Here’s a clip from that….

This was a fundraiser, so Jake Ohlinger, with Ohlinger Auctions was in charge of auctioning off some outstanding items, such as an African Safari, and food packages, etc… That was a huge success, as I believe every item was sold!

Jake was so kind as to write the band this note:

Good Afternoon John & Hot As A Pepper,

Great Job!  First Rate!  Enjoyable!  Job Well Done!

I want you and your band members to know that the InDwellings Organization was very pleased with your performance for the “Back to the Bash : Destination 1970’s” at Thornblade Club the evening of October 28th.  You delivered great music and blended well with the group.

InDwellings and I wish you and your group continued success and fun in you business of entertainment and in your careers as musicians.

Sincerely and I look forward to working with you again.

Jake

Hot As A Pepper at Bacon Labor Day Festival

Hot As A Pepper had a blast at the first Simpsonville Bacon Labor Day Festival on September 1, 2014.

It was a scorching hot day, yet the crowds were quite pleasing and the number of cars entered in the car show were higher than one would expect.

Hot As A Pepper had worked up a song to play for a special person, Donna Hughey, who was going to front the band and sing it, but due to the heat and her health, it didn’t happen. Hopefully we will get another chance in the future. You see, Donna only has six months to live.  You can find out more about her story HERE.

Here’s one of the tunes we enjoyed playing, the classic rock song, “Magic Carpet Ride”.

If you would like fun and family friendly entertainment for your festival, fair, corporate event or any other occasion, please let us know!  You can use this form to reach out to us HERE.

We play within a few hours driving range of Greenville, SC.  Including Atlanta GA, Asheville NC, Knoxville TN, Columbia SC, Charleston SC, Augusta GA, Myrtle Beach SC, Savannah GA, etc.

Megan Hoyt joins members of Hot As A Pepper for a tune at Fridays by the Fountain

Back a few days ago, Hot As A Pepper played a fun outdoor event called “Fridays by the Fountain” in Fountain Inn, SC.

The attendance was down a little due to Darius Rucker performing a few blocks away at the Charter Amphitheater / Heritage Park in Simpsonville, SC, but that didn’t stop us from doing what we do best – create a fun and funky groove that had people literally dancing in the streets!

In the middle of the show, my daughter, Megan, came up on the stage and performed a song called “Price Tag” with just me on acoustic guitar and Chris Eller accompanying us on drums. It was a joy to share the stage with her. Now, if we can only get her to come sing some backup and a few dance numbers!

Here she is…. Megan Hoyt…

If you would, please be kind and “like” her video on YouTube.

Sippin’ In Simpsonville Oktoberfest event turned into ROCKtoberfest!

The air may have been a little cooler, the Beer certainly was flowing cold & freely… but Hot As A Pepper was burning up the stage at the “Sippin’ In Simpsonville” event. We would like to extend a special thanks to our good friend Mark Rodeffer for having invited us to be a part of this exceptional Oktoberfest fundraiser event for the Arts.

The crowd was thoroughly entertained with new tunes & old… with slow dancers & rockers… I think there were even a couple attempts at shagging!! The only thing that was missing were our accordions! Then there may have been a REAL fire going on! All in all, this fun event came off without hitch at all. Heck, we even accepted the rain since it was kind enough to wait until we were done!!

Hot As A Pepper was really thankful and appreciative of the generosity of those who had organized this event and a very special thanks to the very accommodating and complimentary officer (you know who you are) for being such an encouragement during set up & tear-down.

Are you planning an event? A private party? A Club Owner/Manager looking to get a Band in that will bring the right atmosphere for fun? Look no Further – we’re here!! Our calendar is beginning to take shape as we received good leads and referrals for future gigs while Sippin’ in Simpsonville – Don’t you get caught in the rain with your glass empty; call Hot As A Pepper and Let’s Get it Started!!!

How to book a great band like Hot As A Pepper for your corporate function or event in Greenville / Upstate SC

Let’s assume you have decided to book a professional band for your upcoming corporate function or corporate event here in Greenville, Anderson, Simpsonville, Spartanburg or anywhere within a couple hours of Upstate SC.

Let’s even go as far as to assume you possess impeccable taste in music and have decided that the band you want to hire for your event is Hot As A Pepper!   Thanks! We’re honored!

What’s the next step?

You want to insure the day of the event comes off flawless, or at the very least APPEARS to come off without a hitch, so planning as far ahead in advance is of the utmost importance.

Before contacting the band, you need to know some information in order for an accurate quote to be given.

  • Date your corporate event will be held on
  • When do we start, when do we stop, when can we setup?
  • How long will you require music for (2 hours? 3 hours?)
  • Venue where event will take place
  • Type of event (Grand opening, customer appreciation, picnic, etc)
  • Approximate attendance
  • Will the event be held indoors or outdoors?
  • Is there a stage, and if so, how large?
  • If outdoors, is the stage covered?
  • Is there at least 30 amps of power present?
  • What is the dress requirements (Casual, formal, beach, etc)
  • Will a PA system be provided at the venue?
  • If there is a PA, is there an audio engineer running it?
  • Are stage lights provided, if required, or will we need our own?
  • Will an emcee (MC, M.C.) be required or provided?

Goodness gracious that’s a lot of information to provide! But rest assured, the more information you have, the easier it is for the band to determine if it is the right gig for us, if we are available and how much to charge.

If we have to provide a stage, sound system, stage lighting, and the personnel required, obviously, the cost is going to go up, but by how much comes down to just how large of a gig, as larger venues and larger crowds, require a more robust PA system.

Likewise, if formal-wear is required, we will have to take into account additional time to setup, then change into the proper clothing.

Communication is key to any great relationship, and it is no different when hiring a band. We want to get as much information as possible so that we do not overlook a thing.

Once we have a quote prepared, if it is acceptable to you, we will ask to meet for and go over a contract. The contract will protect you and us, and you should be sure to include any specifics in the notes of that contract. Since we are blocking off a date on our calendar for your event, we ask for a 25% deposit at that time. The balance is due at completion of the gig. Cash is always nice, however, checks are acceptable, as are credit cards.

Our contract covers the date and the hours of music you would like to be played, however, if you determine your function is going well and may run longer, we will be happy to extend our time for a reasonable overtime charge. We can talk during a break.

Tips are acceptable and customary if you feel the musicians lived up to your expectations! Many times we have received a tip of 20%, 30% or even more!

If your function features food, it is also nice to extend that to the performers and crew.

What if the band is not doing what you hoped for? What if they are too loud, or maybe they are playing music that is too heavy for the crowd.

We want this to be perfect for you, so at a convenient time during the performance (not during a song), communicate with the sound / lighting person regarding audio or slip a note, written in large letters onto the stage near the vocalist. As professionals, we generally read a crowd very well, however, you are IN that crowd, so let us know.

In the days leading up to the function, one of our band members will likely want to see the venue if they are not familiar with it. They will also wan to discuss the timing of any events taking place, such as a ribbon cutting, news media videoing, etc, so we can coordinate breaks.

That’s it, give us a call and get the ball rolling!  864-979-1224 or use the contact link from the menu above!
